2025 Report

The PB&J 25k + 50k does it again: a perfect fall day, rolling trails, friends both old and new. We’ve had many great days for this event but few top the 2025 edition. Runners were greeted with low temperatures, bluebird skies, and changing leaves. At exactly 8 a.m., they were off on the trails, ready to embrace the beauty and challenges of the course.

Close calls in the 25k
Both distances saw stellar performances with high finisher rates, many of whom endured their first trail experience or longest distance. On the 25k side, the top three men worked closely together, with Chad Crummel winning in 2:06. Seth Bixler and Ellis O’Brien finished soon after, in 2:11 and 2:13, respectively. The women’s run followed a similar storyline, with Amelia Merriman clinching first place in 2:18. The second and third place females, Alaina Brown and Suzie Smyth, finished in 2:43 and 2:44.

New and familiar faces in the 50k
The 50k saw equally impressive performances. Tim Malloy won in 4:36 with PB&J regular John Oplinger on his heels in 4:47. Parker Tilley rounded out the top three in 5:22. On the women’s side, Lilly Lupinetti sailed into first place in 6:24 followed by a tie for second and third place - Neisa Condemaita and Heather Grooms, both finishing in 8:32.

Volunteers make VHTRC go ‘round
As always, our volunteers were top-notch. Former PB&J race director, Sarah Perley, treated runners and volunteers alike to delicious finish line food, including grilled cheese, quesadillas, and the best tomato bisque you’ll ever taste. Our three aid stations - Mawavi, TREC, and Telegraph - were supported by many new and familiar faces and set our runners up for success. The Mawavi and TREC aid stations were lead by first-time captains Jahvorn White and Chino Martinez, both of whom plan to run next year.

It truly takes a village to put on an event, even if it’s a FA. From course marking, to aid stations, to sweeping, we simply cannot do it without volunteers. We are forever grateful!

Thankful for our beautiful venue
Finally, the rangers at Prince William Forest Park welcomed our event with open arms, even during the government shutdown. Even with limited resources it seems they haven’t skipped a beat. The bathrooms were clean and the trails well-groomed. Thank you for ensuring the park stays a beautiful and special place for all.
