The 2014 WV Trilogy

David Frazier was back to his winning ways once again taking the overall Trilogy win in the mountains of WV this past weekend. This was David’s 2nd overall WV Trilogy win. David started his winning ways on Friday with the 50K and then followed another win on Saturday in the 50 Miler. He capped off the weekend with a 3rd place finish in the half marathon on Sunday. It took 2 men breaking David’s previous course record in the half to keep David from the top of the podium all three days.

The WV Trilogy in its fifth year is run by the WVMTR club and is a really unique event held around Spruce Knob and Seneca Rocks at The Mountain Institute. It’s a communal event featuring a tough 50K on Friday, a tougher 50 Miler on Saturday, and a pretty tough trail Half Marathon on Sunday with almost 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

The VHTRC was represented by David Frazier, Dave Herring, and Andy Peterson. Andy took home top age group honors for the his overall trilogy finish.

It was a chilly wet weekend with some beautiful mountains, great food, and great company. Dan Lehmann and company put on a great event! This is one event that you need to a try without a doubt. Did I mention that the food was great. The trails and changing leaves were amazing as well.
