Report

The 30th edition of MMT brought 182 starters to Caroline Furnace to take on 100 miles of rocky Massanutten terrain. Weather cooperated for most of the race — Sunday afternoon was the exception, arriving as a rough stretch for those still out on course.

Andrew Simpson delivered a dominant performance, winning in 18:26:17 — the eighth-fastest time in the race’s 30-year history. He built a substantial lead through the day, with Graham Strzelecki coming home second in 20:54:39 and Derek Prosser third in 21:58:52. This was the first MMT finish for each podium male. So much for experience.

The women’s race, by contrast, was close all day. Cali Janulis emerged victorious in 23:35:34, placing ninth overall and recording the ninth-fastest women’s time in MMT history. Nora Jodrey finished close behind in 23:48:58, also earning the coveted sub-24 silver buckle. Sheila Martin wrapped up the female podium in 25:15:02. This was Cali and Nora’s first MMT and Sheila’s second.

Milestone finishes included Greg Trapp earning his 20th finish, Patrick Heine his 10th, and Katie Keier her 5th.
