Runner + Crew Parking

Parking can be tight at the Bull Run Run. Work with our volunteers to make it a breeze!

Parking can be challenging at BRR, particularly if the weather conditions are wet. Expect up to a half-mile walk from your car to the start line. Click here to view a schematic of parking and other resources at Hemlock Overlook.

Friday parking

  • Packet pick-up parking: you may park within Hemlock, in the small lot on the right as you enter the official Hemlock campus. Packet pick-up is up the hill to the right, in the Oak bunkhouse.
  • Overnight campers: park in the carpool lot, which is to the left as you enter the Hemlock campus. It is called the “Front Field” on the map. You may leave your car here for the duration of the race.
  • Overnight bunkers: if you’re staying in a bunkhouse, you may park behind the lodge. You will need assistance on Saturday when leaving the race. View the Accommodations + Area Resources page for details on bunkhouses.

Race-day parking

Starting at 5 a.m., we’ll have a team of volunteers guiding you to approved parking areas. Please follow their guidance - and the short list of rules below - to make a quick and safe parking experience for all.

  • Do not park ANYWHERE on Yates Ford Road, including Paradise Spring Winery: Yates Ford Road is the road leading up to the race start. Do not park on this road, including any parking lots along this road, or parking areas within the Paradise Spring Winery. They will need to be left open for public use. Parking along this road or at the winery may jeopardize our ability to secure permits in the future.
  • Park close together: we’ll need the space to make sure everyone fits. Do not block gates, roads, or other cars.
  • Bring the right car: if you have a choice of car, bring one that will do well on soft terrain and/or mud.
  • Leave large vehicles at home: do not bring a large vehicle if you can avoid it; please leave campers, big trucks, etc., at home.
  • Carpool: there is a small, inner parking lot located steps away from the start/finish line that is saved for those who arrive at the race with more than one registered runner in their vehicle. Bring a friend(s) who also has a race number; you’ll be glad you did!!
